Valley Eye Group, PC is seeking a detail-oriented Ophthalmic Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. Responsible for accurately billing insurance companies and patients, ensuring timely payments and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:

  • Review all patient charges for accuracy and completeness.
  • Submit claims with appropriate modifiers to clearinghouse.
  • Post electronic payments and reconcile any discrepancies with the insurance company and/or patient.
  • Post paper EOBs/payments and reconcile any discrepancies with the insurance company and/or patient.
  • Work with third-party payers on denied claims.
  • Manage insurance and patient A/R and maintain appropriate level of receivables according to practice standards.
  • Manage appropriate credentialing of providers with third-party payers.
  • Train and update administrative staff on billing and coding practices.
  • Assist with front office duties as needed (i.e., answering phones, check-in, check-out, scheduling appointments).
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding with 2-3 years’ experience in a General Ophthalmology or Ophthalmic Specialty practice.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and medical office procedures.
  • Experience with Medicare, commercial and government insurance requirements, and reimbursements.
  • Experience working with payment clearinghouse.
  • Ability to work in multiple computer systems including Microsoft Office, patient management software, electronic medical software, and internet-based industry portals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valley Eye Group, a private ophthalmology practice, is looking for an optometrist to join our busy and growing practice. Valley Eye Group is known in the Lehigh Valley for providing patient focused care. We are a cohesive group and pride ourselves on delivering excellent clinical care to every patient.

This is a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive optometric care within a highly respected group practice. You will be providing comprehensive eye exams, monitoring ocular conditions, performing postoperative cataract surgery care, fitting contact lenses, and supporting urgent eye care needs. Currently, we are looking for an optometrist 3 days/week with potential for full-time employment.

We are seeking a personable, ethical, and caring team player dedicated to providing excellent clinical care.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
  • ABO/ABCO/ABCMO Board Certification or Eligibility.
  • License to practice in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • NPI number.
  • Clinical skills to diagnose and manage ocular diseases including diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, red eye, cataracts, and dry eyes. As well as determining accurate prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses.
  • Ability to document patient encounters in electronic medical records and to code accurately with ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive optometric care including comprehensive eye exams, postoperative cataract surgery care, contact lens fittings, and urgent eye care appointments.
  • Work in a collaborative environment.
  • Manage 15-20 patient encounters per day.
  • Order appropriate ancillary testing.
  • Refer to ophthalmologist for consultations or surgical care.
  • Participate 1-2 weekends/year of group call coverage, share in weeknight practice call.
